Nielsen Names Naylor First Chief Client Officer

After a career spent using Nielsen data to pitch advertisers on behalf of big media sales organizations, Peter Naylor will be pitching Nielsen's data explicitly as its first Chief Client Officer.

Naylor will oversee all Nielsen’s clients -- including advertisers, media agencies, traditional TV networks and digital media platforms, and will report directly to Karthik Rao, CEO of Nielsen.

He will also work with Nielsen’s sales, product and research teams.

Rao said in a release that Naylor will continue to help build business for Nielsen Big Data + Panel measurement, launched for the new TV season in September -- as well as new live streaming products and Nielsen’s AI efforts.

“As a Nielsen customer for over 20 years, I will tap into my experience to help clients find even more success with Nielsen data, while also sharing partners’ needs to develop even better world class products at Nielsen," Naylor said.

Naylor was previously vice president of global advertising sales at Netflix from August 2022 to July 2024 -- the streamer’s first senior advertising executive. Before that, he was vice president of sales for the Americas for Snap Inc., from April 2020 to August 2022.

He also held a position at Hulu as senior vice president of advertising sales from February 2014 to April 2020. Prior to this, he was executive vice president of digital advertising sales at NBCUniversal.

Great to see clients help any "supplier". Who better understands a clients needs than a smart experienced client. Great match.

Jack, I suspect that it's  more about getting the streaming services to accept Nielsen's new service than helping advertisers--though Peter should be a nice bridge between the buyers and Nielsen as well. I wish him well in his new position.

I think the streamers were already there. In any case, who's not a streamer nowadays?
