Streaming Video Ad Spend Hits $586M Since January

Streaming video platforms' national TV advertising efforts, which have been consistent over the last two years, now total $582.6 million in ad spend/media value over the last seven months versus $576.1 million over the same period a year ago, according to iSpot.tv.

From January 12-August 12, this breaks down to $280 million in national TV ad spend, and $302.6 million in "media value" from ad placement on TV networks.

The media value comes largely from legacy media companies that use their own TV networks (broadcast and cable) to place advertising touting their own streaming platforms.

There were 471,706 total airings over the period with all U.S. video streaming national TV efforts totaling 69.5 billion impressions, versus 457,965 airings and 71.4 billion impressions a year ago.

Paramount+ and Disney+ are virtually tied as the most active over the seven-month period in key TV/streaming metrics.

This includes the share of overall video streaming impressions from advertising bought or placed -- 14.6% (12.1 billion) for Paramount+ and 14.1% (11.6 billion) for Disney+.
