Matte Projects has selected
Joaquin Salim as head of creative.
In the agency’s new role, he reports to Neda Whitney, president/managing partner, and Matthew Rowean, CCO/partner.
Prior to his
appointment, Salim worked at Anomaly as group creative director, responsible for Diaego brand’s Don Julio and Johnnie Walker.
Before Anomaly, Salim held senior creative posts at
Wieden+Kennedy, Droga5, and BBDO NY. His campaigns include The New York Times, Vans, Coca-Cola, LVMH and Expedia.
Rowean said Salim “brings a distinct edge that aligns
perfectly with our ethos. He moves seamlessly between raw culture, high design and visual storytelling, which is right in line with how we do things.”
At Matte, the new hire is
responsible for creative across the agency’s roster, leading integrated campaigns, brand experiences and cultural projects.
“What’s always interested me about Matte is that
the work doesn’t sit neatly in one box. It moves between culture, design, music, entertainment, art and brand experiences, which is very much how I think about creativity,” added
Salim.
New York-based Matte’s client list includes Airbnb, Amazon, Disney, Four Seasons Yachts and Marc Jacobs.
