Campus Nation Network and mobile commerce platform provider LoopPay have signed a partnership agreement to market mobile digital wallets to university campus communities in North America. Campus Nation and LoopPay will create the Campus Loop product line, a joint offering for the university and college market that will focus on serving students and faculty as well as the merchants around these communities. The LoopWallet mobile wallet app enabled customers to load their credit, debit, gift, loyalty, ID, and membership cards into a secure memory accessed by their smartphone.

National Basketball teams the Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons are rolling out in-application features that encourage consumers to upgrade their seats for discounted prices. The teams are working with Pogoseat to integrate the feature into their stand-alone mobile apps. Besides upgrading seats, there is also an opportunity for the teams to crank out more interactive components within apps for promotions.

A Nordstrom executive said that the retailer is content with consumers coming to its mobile applications and sites simply to browse as opposed to shop. During the "From Unknown to Known: Measuring Success in Mobile" session executives from Dolce Hotels & Resorts, Nordstrom Direct and Hotwire discussed the challenges of acquiring and analyzing data from mobile users. Women more so than men have a strong emotional attachment to their smartphones and tablets, suggesting marketers need to position their messages differently for mobile than other media channels, according to a new report from Time Inc. and Nuance Digital Marketing. The study, "Women + Mobile: The Unbreakable Bond," found that 87 percent of women say they cannot imagine their lives without their phone. A key takeaway from the report is that women want to hear from advertisers with messages that are relevant to their purchase although 91 percent do not want mobile ads that are intrusive.

A Lenovo executive said that the brand is working around the fact that that it does not have physical stores with 5,053 location-based mobile search pages to increase traffic to consumer electronics retailers. Attendees got a first-hand look at how Lenovo is using a combination of responsive and mobile design to drive both online and in-store sales during the "New Mobile World, New Online Search Thinking" keynote session. The executive also spoke about some new work that the electronics brand is doing with mobile couponing.

New York -- Nearly 90% of Americans repeatedly buy products retailers have on promotion, according to a new survey by Syngera, a global technology startup that uses big data to bring personalized digital experiences to the physical retail store. In the survey, 85% of respondents said they would return to brick-and-mortar stores when alerted to upcoming sales of previously purchased items. Also while 92% of U.S. consumers use some kind of shopping list (68% specifically use or bring a paper list) to stay organized, most Americans frequently make unplanned purchases, and half describe themselves as impulsive shoppers.

China's already thriving m-commerce market is set to get a further boost over the next two months as Alibaba, the e-commerce giant, has teamed up with telecoms companies to offer free data packages to mobile users. Initially, Alibaba is offering the option to clients of China Mobile and China United Netcom across four provinces, according to China Daily, and may extend it to other regions depending on feedback. Mobile users will be able to apply for the data package when using Alibaba's apps for the company's various platforms, including Taobao Marketplace, Tmall.com, Juhuasuan, Laiwang and Alipay.
