nternational news channel France 24 has reached an agreement with Yahoo, which will see France 24 content shared on the British, Canadian, French and Arab versions of the American portal. Through the deal, the four Yahoo platforms will now offer content aggregated from three of France 24's channels and websites (in French, English and Arabic) in their 'Yahoo News' sections. Content will include news, exclusive reports, debates and analysis articles. Yahoo will also pull content from France 24's sister media platforms RFI (French and English) and Monte Carlo Doualiya (Arabic) radios.

Guardian News and Media news editor Simon Rogers is leaving after 15 years with The Guardian to join Twitter in the US as its first data editor. Rogers is a news editor for The Guardian and also edits the title's Datablog and Datastore online sections. He is being replaced by former Wikileaks and Bureau of Investigative Journalism staffer James Ball who has been with The Guardian since 2011.

The UK Supreme Court has ruled that browsing via a website link do not violate the newspapers' copyright, overruling earlier ruling by the high court. The ruling follows a three-year legal battle between the Newspaper Licensing Agency and a media monitoring firm, Meltwater, which charges PR firms for alerts about their clients. Earlier court rulings established that newspaper article headlines, and extracts of articles, are safeguarded by copyright and ordered Meltwater's clients in the PR industry to require a licence to use them.

The Guardian's expansion into the United States is on track, editor-in-chief Alan Rusbridger (see disclosure) said at the paidContent Live conference Wednesday. Rusbridger said that the Guardian's global audience is about 40 million readers, according to comScore data, with one-third of them in the U.S., one-third in the U.K. and one-third in the rest of the world.

Local news website the Port Talbot Magnet is set to launch a monthly print newspaper this month. The Welsh town has been without a local paper since 2009 when the Port Talbot Guardian was closed down by Trinity Mirror. The Magnet launched in 2011 to "establish a replacement news service" according to director Rachel Howells. She said: "We've always thought, why should a town with so much to offer be without its own local paper?

Currently available for download from Google Play Store, the new app is compatible with smartphones including Samsung Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III, HTC One X+, One X or One. The application will replace users' home screens with updates from friends while incorporating text messages with Facebook chat upon turning on the phone without opening any app or access a mobile website.

The viewing public's embracement of multiple digital platforms is making TV more interactive and more profitable, according to Tess Alps. She once said that she wanted to "end the destructive and utterly false TV-versus-internet paradigm that seems to have taken root in some journalists' brains", and speaking at a recent Empty13 event, she reinforced that view, saying online TV had actually boosted income for the industry and that it was staying relevant to consumers.

Experian's latest report revealed that the UK has the most prolific online shoppers who spend more time on retail websites compared to users in North America or Australia. About 10% of UK users spent all time online shopping in 2012, compared to 9% in the US and 6% in Australia, which was mainly driven by the Christmas season in the UK where 370 million hours were spent on online shopping, up 24% compared to the monthly average.

The Daily Mail's chief says the company is "actively thinking" about charging readers to access some material on its website, according to the Daily Telegraph. Viscount Rothermere, chairman of the Daily Mail & General Trust whose family owns 21% of the media group, is quoted as saying it would start experimenting with a so-called freemium model - one which charges for certain premium content.
