Facebook is expanding its Global Places partnership with Factual, the location data firm announced on Wednesday.
“Our partnership with Facebook now includes [more] countries across Europe and Asia, meaning the global nature of how we build data and its quality is proving valuable to customers,” Bill Michels, Factual's senior vice president product and partnerships, told Real-Time Daily via email.
The partnership now includes location data from 52 countries located in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific, with more than 100 million real locations.
Facebook has access to Factual’s data points through its Crosswalk offering, through which place IDs are connected to related IDs and URLs, allowing Web sites like Yelp, Wikipedia and Tripadvisor to be directly integrated into various apps.
