Google Launches Native Ad Format For AdSense, Some See A Conflict

Google on Wednesday launched native ads for publishers using AdSense.

The ad formats include in-feed, in-article and Matched content, Google's content recommendation product that launched in 2015. Matched content ad units appear at the end or bottom of articles.

The format has been available to eligible publishers and now it is part of AdSense Native ads.

One contributor to WebmasterWorld, an Aussie in Canada, posted about using the In-article ads and In-feed ads for quite some time. Evidently, they work well on long pages for mobile. The Matched content ads were kind of "OK, … but nothing to write home about."

Some have raised concerns as to whether the ads violate Google's own policies, suggesting that native ads can often be mistaken for other site content and are against webmaster rules.

Others suggest that the ad formats create too much clutter on the page.
