Yahoo Mail users are now receiving cash-back promotions in their inboxes, thanks to an arrangement between parent Verizon Media and Rakuten.
Starting in November, Yahoo Shopping enthusiasts could earn cash-back rewards powered by Rakuten on purchases from more than 50 premier online retailers, according to Verizon.
The feature offering combines Yahoo’s “email and shopping capabilities with Rakuten's world-class rewards platform,” states Guru Gowrappan, CEO of Verizon Media.
Gowrappan adds that since “launching our commerce experiences on Yahoo, Yahoo Shopping and Yahoo Mail, we've made it a priority to create a dedicated rewards program.”
Meanwhile, a cash-back feature is embedded in Yahoo Mail's new app that launched this fall. This features a "Deals" view that filters coupons and notifies users of offers before they expire.
In addition, the Deals view features a bar showing users their cash-back balance. It also lists merchants in the program.
Yahoo Shopping features price comparisons and alerts, a promotions calendar and trending deals.
