Wunderkind, a SaaS technology provider that helps brands identify unknown visitors to their websites, is acquiring SmarterHQ, a segmentation and orchestration engine, the firm
announced on Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed.
Formerly known as BounceX, Wunderkind hopes the purchase will help it build revenue for enterprise retailers and strengthen its
partnerships with the major marketing clouds, states Ryan Urban, CEO of Wunderkind.
The firms count such brands as Sam’s Club, DSW, Bloomingdale’s, Uniqlo, SONOS and
HelloFresh as clients.
Initially, the integration will apply SmarterHQ’s segmentation to Wunderkind’s SMS platform, the company says.
Retailers use
SmarterHQ to aggregate their in-store, online and in-app data to delivered tailored messages, it adds.
Wunderkind has raised more tan $44 million in financing to date. It is backed by
Battery Ventures, Primary Venture Partners, Cross Creek Advisors, and Contour Venture Partners.
SmarterHQ has similar backing — it has raised over $42M from investors including
Battery Ventures and Simon Property Group.
ComCap LLC served as financial advisor to SmarterHQ for this transaction.
