Boosted by record usage as people work at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Zoom Video Communications is working on a web email service that would compete with those of Microsoft and Google, reports state.
The company is also working on a calendar app, The Verge reported on Wednesday, based on an article in The Information. MediaPost could not independently confirm the reports.
Having emerged as “the go-to service for work meetings and family get-together during the pandemic,” Zoom is entering “an even more competitive market: corporate email,” The Information states.
Zoom could begin testing the email service next year, The Verge notes, adding that both the email and calendar products are “smart” avenues as people return to the office to work and videoconferencing declines.
