Heavy-metal band Metallica has invested in
TrillerNet, a video-sharing social networking service that allows users to create and share short-form videos, including videos that automatically synchronize to music using AI technology.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
TrillerNet is the parent company to Triller, VERZUZ, Triad Combat, Triller Fight Club, FITE, and other media brands.
"Metallica, like Triller, shares the same passion for disrupting the status quo,” stated Mahi de Silva, TrillerNet CEO. “We are ecstatic to have them as a partner, investor
and now a shareholder. Metallica has always rocked, and we see this signal as a true recognition of the power of the Triller effect.”
The investment comes on the heels of
Triller's Triad Combat's debut event featuring a performance by Metallica on Nov. 27, at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The hybrid boxing-MMA and live music event drew a packed
stadium, with fights inside the triangular ring featuring Derek Campos, Frank Mir, Matt Mitrione, Mike Perry and Kubrat Pulev. The show was produced by the award-winning Nigel
Lythgoe, the creative force behind "American Idol" and "So You Think You Can Dance."
Cliff Burnstein, Metallica co-manager, called the investment a “natural fit.” Triller deployed
solutions combining in-venue, Pay-Per-View — traditional and digital media — subscription, sponsorship and advertising monetization for its partner brands that rely on Triller's creator
network to support content.
Triller built a platform for marketing, advertising and ecommerce engagement, enabling brands to construct and optimize the entire customer journey from awareness
to purchase process to loyalty.
Metallica is not the only brand to invest in Triller. Artists such as Marshmello, The Weeknd, Snoop Dogg, and Lil Wayne have also invested in the
company.
