Google Ads Yet To Resume Service In Gmail For All Desktop Users

Google Ads stopped serving in Gmail to some users on desktop last week. The company has yet to provide an update on when the service will resume.

The ads in the affected areas stopped serving last week, according to the Google Ads Status Dashboard.

"On December 23, we uncovered an issue specific to ads serving on Gmail on desktop browsers only," said a Google spokesperson. "As of December 27, we have resolved this issue for the majority of impacted advertisers, and we are continuing to work on this until it is completely resolved."

Christmas Eve, the status update read: “Google Ads service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change. This issue is specific to ads serving on Gmail on Desktop browsers only.”

Google in September 2013 began testing ads in Gmail. Then in 2015, it made the service available to all advertisers.

Ads were made to fit and look like incoming messages in the inbox.
