ByteDance Video Editor Offers Advertisers, Creators Business Tools

TikTok parent company ByteDance is expanding its all-in-one video editing app, CapCut, into business tools.

Now the app, which ranks in the top 20 overall apps on Apple's App Store, will target advertisers, creators and businesses in developing ads and branded content for social platforms through its AI-powered script generator, list of commercial-licensed business templates and more.

CapCut for Business offers a suite of ad-creation, budgeting and collaboration tools, with AI playing a noticeable part in the offerings.

The company's script generator, for example, works in a similar way to TikTok's recently launched Creative Assistant tool, in that it helps advertisers come up with script ideas based on a product or business description.

Advertisers can also access thousands of commercially licensed business templates, a host of AI-generated presenters who lead product demonstrations and explainer videos, and a smart tool that automatically converts product URLs or landing pages into ad videos.

In addition, CapCut is attempting to attract e-commerce businesses and clothing sellers with its virtual try-on feature, which uses AI models to help customers virtually try on products and provide photos digitally highlighting a company's product catalog.

The consumer version of CapCut first launched in China in 2019 and has become ByteDance's second app, after TikTok, to reach $100 million in consumer spending, according to findings from data.ai. As of August, the app had been used globally by 490 million people on mobile worldwide. CapCut reaches 170 countries outside of China.

CapCut for Business sets itself apart from the consumer version with a focus on team use. As part of this launch, some features are aimed to help team members, agencies and creators collaborate on branded content, providing everyone involved with the ability to edit, access, review, and add notes and suggestions on one unified program.

These tools are now available for marketers, brands and creators across the CapCut app for desktop, mobile, and tablets.
