Marriott International’s travel program and marketplace, Marriott Bonvoy, is launching its own virtual city experience on popular virtual gaming platform Fortnite, to highlight a portion of the company’s 30 hotel brands and 10,000 global destinations through gamified experiences. 

“Fortnite is more than just a game -- it’s a place to escape, to discover, and a place that defies physical realities. Similarly, Marriott Bonvoy is more than a portfolio of hotel brands -- its keys unlock new experiences and the start of adventures that can take you anywhere,” says Brian Povinelli, senior vice president and global head of marketing and brand at Marriott International. 

Povinelli adds that the company will use Fortnite to gamify its various brands for a younger generation of online visitors and travelers. “Marriott Bonvoy Land” will feature mini-games designed specifically for Moxy Hotels, Westin Hotels, W Hotels and Autograph Collection Hotels.

According to Marriott, it is the first and largest hospitality company to launch in the Fortnite universe. 

To access the virtual city experience, users can type the game code “7652-9467-4215” into the park square portal. From there, players can check in to the various virtual hotels and ask the virtual concierge to check them into their rooms or unlock the hotel’s dedicated minigame. 

At the Moxy, players can transform into various items around the hotel in a virtual game of hide-and-seek. Through the search, they will come across a disco, arcade games and “vibrant art.”

At the Westin, players can check out the fitness studio and race their friends, while W Hotel visitors will work on uncovering a labyrinth and dance to a DJ on the rooftop deck. Finishing off the multi-hotel experience, players can head to the Autograph to see a fireworks display set against the park’s skyline. 

To celebrate the launch, Marriott said in a statement that a surprise celebrity guest will join Twitch streamer Sommerset’s live-stream on November 2 at 6:30pm ET to play mini-games and explore the new world. Attendees can tune in to chat with like-minded fans and win a giveaway for real-world Marriott Bonvoy stays.  

Aside from the one-time Twitch stream, however, Marriott has made no reference to future real-world rewards featured in Marriott Bonvoy Land.
