Continuing to advance its business offerings, Reddit is providing Intercontinental Exchange -- an American financial services company that owns the New York Stock Exchange – with “anonymous conversations” from its social platform to create new data and analytics products for the finance industry.

Similar to how brands use tools to analyze public conversations to gain insights into the perceptions, emotions and actions of their target audiences, Reddit says it will “tap into and analyze” the 16 billion posts and comments on its platform “to build new tools aimed at rethinking and improving portfolio optimization, algorithmic trading, event-driven strategies, due diligence, and more.”

The collaboration is intended to make it easier for financial professionals and companies to access and analyze Reddit's real-time content from 97.2 million daily active users, which the social media company believes “can help inform market participants’ investment decisions and risk management strategies.”

According to Intercontinental Exchange, Reddit's vault of content has the potential to aid its customers when they are looking for new investment opportunities in global markets. The company plans on pairing its experience with alternative datasets and Reddit’s Data API to develop the new analytics products.

As a conversation and news-based social platform, Reddit is exploring ways in which it can attract businesses from various industries.

This partnership announcement comes days after Reddit added a new way for businesses to track virtually any keyword or phrase used during in-app conversation via the Reddit Pro dashboard, allowing businesses to see when, where, and how users are discussing the topic.
