Spotify has announced a new partnership with United that will make over 450 hours of curated playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks from the streaming service available to airline passengers for free.
According to Spotify, its hand-picked in-flight content offering -- which includes “Good Hang with Amy Poehler,” “The Dave Chang Show,” and “The Comment Section with Drew Afualo” -- will be accessible on over 130,000 of United’s seatback screens, many of which are 4K quality and feature Bluetooth connectivity.
On United’s Starlink-equipped aircrafts, travelers already have the option to stream Spotify content, along with content from YouTube and Apple Music, on their personal devices “from gate to gate” free of charge by logging into their MileagePlus accounts.

United says that by 2026, passengers will be able to sign into their own Spotify accounts and broadcast the streaming app’s content from their personal devices on the airline’s seatback screens, making it no longer necessary to pack laptops or tablets for streaming purposes.
United airline passengers don’t need to set up a Spotify account to access the platform’s in-flight content, but MileagePlus members can earn up to 1,000 bonus miles when subscribing to Spotify’s premium paid subscription plan.
This is the first time Spotify has offered audiobooks and video podcasts on an airline.
United’s Spotify partnership comes after its competitor, Delta, announced a partnership with YouTube at the start of the year, offering SkyMiles members ad-free premium video and music content via YouTube, as well as 4K Bluetooth-accessible entertainment screens.
