Meta saw an increase in
usage and revenue in the second quarter of 2025, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg sharing his excitement around the continued development of “personal superintelligence,” which the company’s
successful ad business is funding.
Meta continues to add users across its family of apps, reporting 3.48 billion total daily active users – a 6% increase year-over-year.
India has become the largest region for Instagram and Facebook usage.
The tech giant also reported a 22% year-over-year rise in revenue, amassing $47.52 billion
over the past quarter, while the average price per ad increased 9%, and ad impressions rose by 11% compared to Q2 2024.
The company’s impressive
quarterly earnings will help offset Meta’s quarterly costs, which amounted to $27.07 billion -- an increase of 12% year-over-year -- while helping fund the current and future chapters of
Meta’s AI, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) projects, including AR wearables and the construction of costly AI data centers.

While Meta’s metaverse aspirations remain in the distance, its wearables business is beginning to boom. According to its partner EssilorExottica’s Q2 report, Meta’s AR
Ray-Ban products are up more than 200% in sales, with its newer AR Oakley product stoking consumer interest as well.
The luxury eyewear manufacturer stated that Meta’s Ray-Ban wearables more than tripled in revenue year-over-year.
Building on Zuckerberg’s long-held belief that hands-free devices will eventually replace the smartphone, Meta is working on wrist-detected control tech, and recently
hinted at plans to launch a new smartwatch later this year.
“I'm excited to build personal superintelligence for everyone in the world,”
Zuckerberg said in the report, adding to his recent
statement about Meta platforms beginning to see “glimpses of our AI systems improving themselves.”
“The improvement is slow for
now, but undeniable,” Zuckerberg added. “Developing superintelligence is now in sight.”
