Actor/director Ben Stiller has
a new gig as co-founder of Stiller’s Soda, along with food and beverage entrepreneur Alex Doman. Low in sugar and only 30 calories, the brand debuts with three flavors: root beer, lemon-lime and
Shirley Temple.
His pitch is classic soda for a new world. Currently available in New York City and via Amazon's U.S. store, the soda is touting all-natural ingredients, with vitamins B12, C and
D.
SpecialGuest is the agency behind the ad spot, led by creative directors Lake Buckley and David
Ebert. Smuggler is the production company, directed by Guy Schelmerdine.
The campaign is running across social media platforms and on stillerssoda.com. The
campaign features Stiller and Justin Theroux, who co-wrote "Tropic Thunder" with him. The spot parodies 1980s ads — Stiller pitches the soda with interruptions from a wild voice narrated by
Theroux.

In the coming months, the soda will also be available at Walmart.com, followed by a nationwide retail expansion in 2026.
“My love of soda goes way back,” said
Stiller. “I think of me and my sister going out to dinner at a fancy restaurant with my parents and getting Shirley Temples! So much fun, and always so cool — like the grown ups. The idea
behind Stiller’s Soda was simple: bring back that same sense of nostalgia, but make it work for today. We wanted to reimagine the classic soda experience in a way that’s cleaner and
lighter.”
SpecialGuest has produced work for Chewy, Mastercard, Kodak and Spotify.
“Stiller is on a mission to bring soda back to its roots, while modernizing it for everyone
— soda novices included. And true to who he is, the campaign is no exception, poking fun at himself and the larger celebrity brand landscape,” added Theroux.
