Ore-Ida French Fry Skis Promote Sport, Food

French fries are common. French fry-designed skis are not.

But for a limited time, Fisher Sports is introducing Ore-Ida French Fry skis that celebrate the known skiing lingo and official graduation from the beginner “pizza” wedge to the parallel “French fry.”

Founded on the Oregon and Idaho border, Ore-Ida is working with select retailers, including Mountain Shop and PK’s Skis and Sports, as well as Amazon. Ore-Ida French Fry Skis will be available for purchase, while supplies last, in a range of sizes, 142cm, 152cm, 162cm, 172cm, 182cm, beginning Feb. 1 for $250 a pair.

To promote them, out-of-home ads by The Kitchen are running on ski lifts at the Buttermilk, Park City and Snowmass ski resorts. For example, placements at Buttermilk will be visible at the Summit Express, the main lift used for the X Games. The games will be held in Aspen, Colorado, Jan. 23-25.

"When you're new to skiing everyone evolves from Pizza to French Fry, and the best après ski reward is fries. That's why we created French Fry Skis, made for peak potato performance on and off the slopes,” Simon Au, executive creative director, The Kitchen told Agency Daily.

Claire Lukaszewski, senior brand manager, Ore-Ida, added: “French Fry Skis are a fun, unexpected way to take our golden, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside fries from the frozen aisle to the frozen slopes and celebrate a moment every skier remembers.”

The Kitchen is the in-house agency for Kraft Heinz. Its portfolio includes brands such as Heinz, Kool-Aid and Jell-O.
