Microsoft Heads Toward AI Superintelligence, Reorganizes Copilot Teams

Microsoft made several announcements on Tuesday around reorganizing Copilot teams that work on different versions of its AI products, “doubling down” on superintelligence.

Teams that work on its Microsoft 365 Copilot productivity offerings and the consumer version of Copilot are being combined, according to a memo shared by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in a blog post.

“Our org boundaries will simply reflect system architecture and product shape such that we can deliver more coherent and competitive experiences that continue to evolve with model capabilities,” Nadella wrote.

Jacob Andreou, produce and growth lead for Microsoft AI, will head Copilot across the consumer and commercial areas to drive design, product, growth and engineering.

Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman will now focus mainly on the company’s AI models and move toward superintelligence.

“We are doubling down on our superintelligence mission with the talent and compute to build models that have real product impact, in terms of evals, COGS reduction, as well as advancing the frontier when it comes to meeting enterprise needs and achieving the next set of research breakthroughs,” Nadella wrote.

The company said Ryan Roslansky, Perry Clarke, and Charles Lamanna will lead Microsoft 365 apps and the Copilot platform.

After the reorganization, Microsoft plans to move from having distinct commercial and consumer Copilot products and toward one product experience across its business and consumer applications.

Microsoft Advertising also announced negative keyword support for its ad platform Performance Max. Advertisers can add, modify, or delete negative keywords.

Negative match types will perform the same way for Performance Max as for traditional Search campaigns. Negative keyword lists can be applied at the campaign or account level, and the limit is 5,000 negative keywords per list. Marketers will need to either add the negatives to existing lists or create new lists.

Support for API, Editor, and importing negative keywords from Google Ads are also now available as of March.

Negative keywords currently only apply to Search and Shopping inventory in Performance Max.
