As Meta shutters its virtual reality (VR) projects, the tech
giant continues to invest more heavily in its partnership with glasses holding company EssilorLuxottica, targeting more user needs with each release. According to a report from Bloomberg, Meta’s next Ray-Ban launch will prioritize consumers who need prescription
lenses.
Following Meta's sport-centric Oakley smart glasses product,
and the ongoing development of its “Display” Ray-Ban smart
glasses, a series of recent FCC filings suggested that the company is preparing two models of Ray-Ban AI glasses for public release.

While no specific details regarding the “RayBan Meta
Scriber” and “RayBan Meta Blazer” were included in the filings, according to Bloomberg's report, these new models will be “sold primarily through traditional prescription
eyewear channels.”
The report states that Meta will debut both the Scriber and Blazer models next week, and that the glasses will come in rectangular and rounded styles.
Currently available Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses products can be updated with prescription lenses. However, the company has yet to sell wearables primarily through a prescription eyewear provider --
a move that could potentially expand consumer interest.
Meta's reported launch comes months after CEO Mark Zuckerberg noted the possible opportunity of targeting consumers who need
prescription lenses.
“Billions of people wear glasses or contacts for vision correction,” he told investors on a recent earnings call. “It's hard to imagine a world in
several years where most glasses that people wear aren't AI glasses.”
Meta sold over 7 million pairs of Ray-Ban smart glasses in 2025, according to EssilorLuxottica, tripling sales
year-over-year.
