Warner Bros.' “Supergirl” had a challenging domestic debut with a $38 million box office, according to Comscore, compared to Walt Disney/Pixar's "Toy Story 5” (now in its second
week), which dominated the box office.
"Supergirl" was expected to be headed for a $50 million opening.
“Toy Story 5,” in its second week of release, posted another big take at
$70 million -- down about half the total of its soaring $160 million opening weekend. It had the biggest opening for a domestic release so far in 2026.
Reviews for “Supergirl” were
mixed, with Rotten Tomatoes giving it a 56% score, and the score for moviegoers higher at 77%.
The official 2 minute-57 second trailer for the movie on YouTube has 28 million views so far. By
comparison, the official 2 minute-25 second “Toy Story 5” trailer from Pixar now has 24 million views.
Warner Bros.' total estimated national TV estimate -- and the media value of
TV advertising placed on WBD TV networks -- amounted to a modest $15.8 million, according to iSpot.tv, from 6,964 airings delivering 1.2 billion impressions -- mostly college basketball, NFL football
and NBA basketball.

In third place in domestic box office revenue, Universal’s/Focus Features' “Obsession” was next at $9.8 million -- totaling $233.9 million and $370.1
million worldwide.
Paramount Pictures’s latest edition of “Jackass,” called “Jackass: Best and Last,” debuted at $8.4 million. The previous version of the
franchise: “Jackass: Forever,” (2022) totaled $23.1 million.
