Everything Everywhere has finally announced details of its UK 4G rollout, revealing that superfast mobile internet access should be live in the UK before the end of the year. Speaking at an event in London Tuesday morning, Everything Everywhere CEO Olaf Swantee said 4G-enabled devices will be launching in the UK "soon," although no specific date has been revealed yet. The company said it hopes to bring 4G to 16 cities and one-third of the UK population by the end of 2012.

Marie Claire, the monthly women's magazine owned by IPC, is carrying a video ad for a Dolce and Gabbana fragrance in the pages of some copies of its October edition. The ad has been inserted in a few thousand copies of the 396-page issue, on pages 34 and 35. It features a 45-second video ad including sound, which plays when the reader opens the page. Procter & Gamble, the company licensed to produce the fragrance, placed the ad through media agency MediaCom.

UK consumers are willing to engage with instream video ads and mobile advertising more keenly than their global counterparts. Due to high levels of user experience with video advertising in the UK, viewers seem to be more willing to watch video ads, indicated by higher completion rates than the broader region. The difference was the highest among instream videos, where 75.02% of video ads played to completion, compared to 74.32% in Western Europe and 56.94% in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Robbie Farah has urged lawmakers to move against internet users who launch "vile" attacks against celebrities on social networking sites. The NSW State of Origin and Wests Tigers hooker received a "disgusting" comment on his Twitter account on Sunday night referring to his mother Sonia, who died in June, and has referred the matter to police. Farah said he felt compelled to take the matter to police following the reaction to the tweet sent by a since deleted account using the Twitter handle maxpower118.

The service has, up to now, been delivered through a desktop application but reports suggest the company is preparing to launch a completely overhauled browser-based version. It is not clear whether the new browser-based version will replace the traditional desktop client. The platform has more than 10 million users and four million paying customers, up from two million in September 2011. Users can either access songs for free, with adverts, or they can pay a monthly fee for advert- free song access.

The Economist has revealed a total paid-for circulation figure of 1,554,948 - consolidating its print and digital figures from around the world. The figure for the first half of 2012 includes 88,000 paid-for digital edition subscribers (sold separately from the print edition). In addition, The Economist has revealed that 631,967 average unique devices access The Economist app, and it claims 5.6 million social media followers (including 2.8m on Twitter, 1.1m Facebook likes and 1.6m Google+ circle members).

Harry Potter star Emma Watson has been named the most dangerous celebrity on the internet by security firm McAfee. The McAfee report revealed that Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, is the celebrity most used by cyber crooked to lure people into downloading malicious software. An online search for Watson has a one-in-eight chance of landing on a malware-infested website. Users adding phrases such as "nude pictures" and "free downloads" are more likely to end up on a dodgy site.

Mobile phone company O2 has launched a drive to celebrate postcard art and bring it ''back from the edge'' after research showed that holidaymakers from the UK were falling out of love with the traditional handwritten mode of communication. Kelly Brook is to front a campaign to advertise the effort, which has a bit of a digital twist.

According to Hearst, Goodhousekeepingtravel.co.uk is its first travel website, showcasing guided global holidays that can be bought online. The site allows users to search for their ideal holiday by price, popularity or by Good Housekeeping recommends, as well as browsing handpicked weekend breaks and the most popular offers, before booking on the Good Housekeeping Travel Shop.

Virgin Media has unveiled Virgin TV Anywhere, a new Sky Go-style service that will enable cable TV customers to stream live channels and on-demand on smartphones, tablets and laptops. Launching "soon" as an app and website, TV Anywhere will offer around 30 channels for live streaming spanning a "wide range of genres", along with around 2,000 hours of video on-demand content.
