Nick Gee, Mobile Director of Auto Trader said that just over a third of its traffic is now 'non-desktop'. Typically those downloading a smartphone app, or accessing the brand's mobile site, will engage with the brand many times in the typical six week window when they are looking to buy or sell a vehicle.

STV has announced the launch of the STV Player app on Apple App Store and Google Play, allowing users to watch 30 days of catch-up including programmes such as Downton Abbey, X Factor and Scotland Tonight. ShortList Media, the publisher of ShortList and Stylist magazines, is believed to be working on plans to launch an online publication next year. Sources said that the new title, which has the working name of "Project River", will be an online offering targeting women. Last year, ShortList Media launched its daily e-mail service for women called Emerald Street. It is thought that "Project River" involves plans for a broader, web-based offer.

The Spanish auto manufacturer has teamed up with augmented reality platform Aurasma to incorporate the technology into a range of its global marketing material. Devised by Grey London, the partnership will begin with the augmented reality technology embedded into brochures for two new Seat models - Leon and Toledo - both of which were unveiled at the Paris Motor Show. The technology will also feature in Seat's main range brochure.

Two years after it first promised it would release an iPad controller for its TiVo TV box, UK cable company Virgin Media has finally shown a working version that it is about to release. The app forms part of the provider's upcoming "Virgin TV Anywhere" strategy, which will let subscribers view live and on-demand TV from their subscribed bouquets on devices other than their cable-connected TV. Both an iOS app and a website will let subscribers schedule and manage their TiVo recordings, discover TV show content and share viewing habits with social networks.

Mobile firm EE laid out its plans for the network several weeks ago but had held off announcing a date while peace talks between rival operators were brokered. Rivals were unhappy that it would gain an unfair advantage by launching ahead of them. O2 and Vodafone have now agreed that they would not pursue legal action to block EE's roll-out.

A collection of publishers in Slovakia participating in the country's national paywall are to again increase the exclusive content offered to subscribers to potentially "increase reach of the content" to new demographics, according to the paywall provider Piano Media. According to a release, "four Piano media partners will add new and exclusive content to Piano including advance access to premium articles and TV series, press photo galleries and a new ad-free website", as of today's latest increase in content.

The British Film Institute will spend around GBP49.5 million to digitise 10,000 classic movies it says are crucial to UK cultural heritage. The BFI says, "We will host a service on bfi.org.uk that identifies all British works and shows users where they can be viewed - by linking to the digital platforms of individual archives, by displaying links to cinema programmes UK-wide, and linking to DVD catalogues and VoD services.

Northcliffe has announced the closure of weekly title the Thanet Times after 116 years. The paper was one of seven titles that Northcliffe tried selling to rival publisher the KM Group before the deal was scuppered by the Office of Fair Trading last October.
