• Mail On Sunday Launches Interactive Magazine
    The Mail on Sunday has brought out a digitally interactive version of its supplement, Live Magazine. The title claims it is the first national newspaper to have done this with the release of its 'mini-fitness' special on 27 January. To be able to interact on the special edition, readers need to download a content reader app, designed by Digital Space. To access more content, readers hover their mobile phones over the magazine's images - editorial and commercial - which are embedded with digital watermarks.

    The Australian radio show involved in the prank call to the Duchess of Cambridge's hospital last month has been cancelled by 2Day FM. The Hot 30 programme was taken off the air in December following the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha, who forwarded the show's call to Kate Middleton's room at the King Edward VII hospital in London. Hosts Michael Christian and Mel Greig pretended to be the Queen and Prince Charles in the prank call, and were able to gain personal information from the nurse caring for Middleton while she suffered from severe morning sickness.

    A number of hospitality and leisure operators generate up to half of their sales through social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter and Google+. That"s according to new research from Barclays, reported byfreshbusinessthinking.com, which also suggests nearly a third claim social media directly attributes up to 25% of all their sales. Around 13% believe it attributes up to half of their sales.     Global Internet connection speeds dropped by 7% between the second and third quarters of 2012 to 2.8mbps, according to a new report from Akamai Technologies. However, during the entire year the average connection speeds rose 11% compared to 2011. During late 2012, South Korea registered the highest average connection speed at 14.7mbps, followed by Japan (10.7 Mbps) and Hong Kong (8.9 Mbps). According to the report, the global adoption of high broadband rose 8.8% during the third quarter, while overall global broadband adoption increased 4.8%.
