• PayPal Introduces Mobile Payment Service
    It will compete with similar services offered by iZettle and Payleven in the UK. PayPal has introduced a European version of its PayPal Here mobile payments service in the UK. The service will provide new sales methods to small merchants that earlier relied on cash or cheques. As part of the move, the company has also unveiled a Chip & PIN device which would allow small merchants to accept credit and debit cards as well as PayPal payments.

    The children's social media site, has announced it is to partner with Sony Music on the launch of a new album. 'Bin tunes' is set for release on 1 April and will feature lyrics penned by kids as well as popular characters from the platform. BinWeevils.com currently receives 2 million unique visitors per month, predominantly from children in the 6-12 age group, with over 20 million kids having registered with the platform since launch.

    The Independent fastest growing national press website in January, increasing its daily traffic by more than 100% to 1.2 million 'unique browsers' according to ABC. The Mail Online was the second fastest growing site - and still the biggest - with 8 million unique browsers a day. ABC's national newspaper website monthly totals for January have Mail Online with 126.7 million unique browsers, Guardian.co.uk on 77.9 million unique browsers, The Telegraph on 61.4 million, The Sun on 30.7 million, The Independent on 25.2 million, Metro on 6 million and Standard.co.uk on 4.7 million.
  • Virgin Media Adds YouTube App To TiVo Listings
    The video-sharing platform's app will be included within the TV guide and available through selecting number 198 on TiVo. It will include clips from its programming and be integrated into its My Shows and Search and Browse areas. The app can also be accessed via the Apps and Games section of Virgin Media TiVo, while YouTube search results will also be available through programme information as a bonus feature, which will include outtakes and fan content.
  • Spotify To Urge On-the-Go Streaming Of Tracks
    Currently, Spotify only allows its paid subscribers to play tracks on mobile and tablet computers upon a 30-day free trial. The Verge reported that the digital music service is already in talks with Warner Music and is planning to negotiate with other music majors including Sony and Universal later this month. Spotfiy's move to expand its free service offering would allow it to compete with streaming rivals including Napster, Rdio and Deezer, which charge GBP9.99 per month to play music on the go.
  • Guardian Claims Record For Online January Figures
    It has claimed record digital figures for January of 77.9 million monthly unique users. The newspaper has released the figures as part of the latest ABC Digital update, with the record numbers generated by reports on the US fiscal cliff, the Golden Globes and coverage of the crisis in Mali, which led to the publisher beating its previous record of 71.8 million unique users which it set in October 2012. The record figure for January is an increase of 23% year-on-year.
  • Bauer Media Adds Kiss FM To DAB Network
    Kiss FM has joined the Digital One national DAB channel. Owners Bauer Media confirmed the move away from the local DAB network, which boosts the audience coverage by 21% to 85% of the UK. Managing Director at Bauer Media Steve Parkinson said: "Kiss has seen significant growth in audience over the last two years across its many touch points and multiplatform offering.
