The demand was made in a joint submission to the European Commission's consultation on copyright, via the newly formed coalition AMP. Some have suggested this is a contractual dispute, not an issue for the EC.

Sales of video, video games and music jumped 4% year on year in the UK from GBP5.1bn to GBP5.3bn in 2013, marking the first growth in the home entertainment sector since 2008, according to figures published on Wednesday by the Entertainment Retailers Association.

Lippman challenged readers to share bare-faced photographs of themselves after reading about Novak's "shocking" appearance at the Oscars.

Last month, MD of FT.com Rob Grimshaw told The Drum that the FT would make a substantial shift into the development of educational services this year. The FT's parent company, Pearson, operates one of the world's largest education companies.

Facebook has unveiled plans to build a second data centre at its Lulea site in Sweden. The new Lule 2 data centre will be constructed alongside a pre-existing facility, which was opened in 2013. Facebook said construction work will start shortly on its second data centre building, which will utilise a new rapid deployment data centre design.

One Direction pop star Harry Styles has won permanent High Court orders against four paparazzi photographers in his legal battle to end the "crazy pursuit" of him. His barrister told a judge in London today that four individuals had so far been identified since harassment proceedings were launched last year. David Sherborne said he was "happy to inform" Mr Justice Dingemans that the four defendants consented to permanent injunctions - while efforts were continuing to identify other photographers.

UK mobile advertising spend is forecast to top GBP2bn and overtake newspaper ad revenue for the first time in 2014, according to new research. Total digital media advertising spend is predicted to increase from GBP6.3bn in 2013 (44.3% market share) to GBP7.1bn this year (47.5% market share), according to the latest forecast from eMarketer published on Monday.
