Universal Pictures is extending the reach of its animated "The Secret Life of Pets"
with digital apps that let users customize images of their pets.
Created by digital marketing agency
TVGla, with illustrations by Mattson Creative, the PetMOJI app allows users to create custom avatars for their own pets. They choose from a dog or cat and select custom features for their pet,
including a specific body, nose, eyes, ears and tail.
There are also patches, patterns and colors to make the avatar look like one’s pet.
Once the pet is created, it can be shared
via text, email or social media. If a user owns multiple pets, the application allows them to create different versions of their pets and save them to their mobile device. The program is
currently one of the most downloaded app on iTunes.
There is also a desktop app at MyPetMoji.com that allows users to create a virtual pet
and customize the image with a name. That image can be shared via Facebook and Twitter, or downloaded to a mobile device.

This virtual pet also can be transformed into emojis with different
sayings like 'LOL,' 'I’m Waiting' and 'Seriously.' It offers more than 45 different pet emojis that are dynamically created with the user’s customized pet.
In addition to
customizable pet emojis, the application offers emojis based directly on the characters from the movie.
This was a complex project, says TVGla, since it allows for billions of unique results
to be generated to capture the essence of individual pets and their features.
