Personalization Firm DataSine Raises $5.2 Million

DataSine, a London-based startup that helps firms personalize their email and other communications, has raised $5.2 million in Series A funding.

The round was led by Pentech and Propel Venture Partners, and included C.Entrepreneurs/Cathay Innovation, Twin Ventures and Sistema VC.

Pomegranate, DataSine’s collaborative personalization platform, will be launched in the SME market in March.  It relies on AI to match content with personality, the company says.

DataSine serves such European clients as BNP Paribas and Tinkoff bank. The firm applies machine learning to behavioral data that companies have collected to build customer profiles, it says.

Pomegranate helps marketers personalize touchpoints such as emails, landing pages and call center scripts, and allows them to spend less time on copy tweaking, A/B testing and other tasks. It integrates with HubSpot and MailChimp, and DataSine expects to launch further integrations throughout the year.

DataSine was founded in 2015 by CEO Igor Volzhanin. It is based on the idea that “personality can help companies understand their customers as a whole, which empowers them to truly connect with customers through every interaction, and move beyond traditional focus of click optimization,” Volzhanin states.

Marc Moens, a partner at Pentech, states: “The idea that digital communications can be tailored for an individual in the age of Big Data is very appealing and addresses the needs of the market.”
