Nielsen Begins Reporting Amazon Video, 'The Boys' Deliver Super Ratings

Amazon original superhero series “The Boys” delivered some pretty super ratings, according to the first-ever audience estimates released by Nielsen for the SVOD service.

The average audience size of “The Boys” during its first 10 days of streaming was 4.1 million people with an average of a little more than 6 million viewers tuning in to its premiere episode alone.

The largest share of viewing to “The Boys” was generated by viewers 35-49. The demo comprised 39% of the total audience of the show’s average viewership over its first 10 days.

Within the first 10 days of its premiere date (July 26-August 4), “The Boys” reached nearly 8 million viewers over its eight episode season.

Nielsen said eight major networks and studios are now licensing its syndicated Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) Content Ratings.

Can someone please advise whether that 4.1m is 'average minute audience' or 'streamers'.

John, when Nielsen uses the term "average audience" it almost always means average minute---in my experience.

Same here in Australia. Our BVOD streaming is also converted to average minute audience.

The reason I ask is that with our BVOD the ratings company knows the programme duration so can calculate the average minute audience. So I was wondering is that also the case for other streaming services (such as Amazon in this instance)? Also, is it only for certain programmes such as 'headline' content like 'The Boys' or for their entire content library?
