Online Shopping By Voice Devices, Wearables On The Rise

Wearables and voice-enabled tech for shopping are on the rise.

A new study projects a massive growth in online purchasing via wearables and voice-enabled devices around the world.

In the next two years, there is expected to be a 91% increase in the use of wearables and a 201% increase in voice-activated devices for online purchasing.

The study comprised a survey of 5,600 consumers in the U.S., U.K., China, Australia, Singapore, India, Canada and Germany, conducted by Sapio Research for MiQ, a programmatic marketing company.

In the U.S., purchasing by wearables is estimated to grow 81% and with voice-activated devices by 131%.

Meanwhile, online purchasing by desktop is projected to decrease 20% overall and 14% in the U.S.

The overall audience is split among those who are the first to buy high tech (29%), those who wait for reviews (28%), those who buy a few months after product introduction (27%) and those who are among the last to buy new tech (16%).
