WhatsApp And Twilio Expand Their Partnership

Facebook's WhatsApp has expanded its relationship with Twilio to leverage Twilio’s customer base.

Twilio offers access to over 10 million developers and more than 200,000 businesses. The expanded arrangement will facilitate faster onboarding for businesses with access to WhatsApp global engagement specialists, the company claims.

WhatsApp is a “key channel across the Twilio Customer Engagement Platform, whether you are building in Twilio Flex, Frontline, or the Conversations API,” Twilio says in a Wednesday blog post.

Developers can use WhatsApp to send “requested notifications with the Programmable Messaging API or power cross-channel conversations with the Conversations API,” the post says.

Twilio is now working with the WhatsApp team to support conversational messaging applications in such markets as Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia and South Africa, the firm adds.
