Courage, Gumption & A Dash Of Curiosity: The Melt Shop Exec's Recipe for Success

Behind the Scenes with Aarti Mehta

The Melt Shop's Aarti Mehta talks learning from heartbreak, risks worth taking and what she really thinks about green M&M's new sneakers.

I've had the opportunity to connect with and learn from executives of major brands at MediaPost's Insider Summits. In the process I've discovered some truly impressive women, and not only for the work they do but their stories behind the scenes. With Brand Insider: BTS, I get to pull back the curtain on some of the most influential women marketers as they talk about their path to success: the twists and turns, obstacles, inspirations and the valuable lessons learned along the way.

“My name is connected to who I am as a woman, who I am as an Indian woman, and that was one thing that I let people get away with for a long time, and now I'm like, no.” That one thing was mispronouncing Aarti Mehta’s name. She shares why taking the “small step” of pronouncing it correctly not only shows respect for her but for her history as well. The Melt Shop's director of marketing, systems & technology, also speaks up for other women of color. In this episode of Brand Insider: BTS, Aarti talks with me about finding her voice, learning to NOT say sorry -- and how making a list led the newlywed to her husband.
