Archive-Backed AI Finds Its Way Into Marketing, Advertising

History Factory has carved out a digital niche for marketers and advertisers by creating an AI-based closed-loop platform that draws on a company’s history, rather than relying on misleading or inaccurate information that could be found across the web.

The international brand heritage and archival organization, founded in 1979, oversees corporate digital records for companies including Boston Beer, Caterpillar, Southwest, and Verizon.

These companies depend on History Factory to keep track of their heritage, archived information from paper, handwritten notes, audio files, internal memos, complex financial tables and photos.

“One company is using their stored archives to understand how it had responded to war conflicts in the past,” said Jason Dressel, CEO of History Factory. “It doesn’t contextualize what happens today in Iran, because it does not read outside news sources, but the data could be uploaded into the system.”

Finding a niche within History Factory’s archival service, “Chroniqle” -- an AI platform supported by Anthropic and Google large language models -- makes data accessible to support Marketing and Communications, Business Development, Strategy, Innovation and Legal, and Compliance.

The platform can pull data and photos from archives to create a video of the company’s history used for advertising, marketing or presentations.

It can create from the archived data a series of social media posts on sites like LinkedIn. It also provides a list of where it found the information and why it used the data it did.

The data is structured through a vetted process, so the tool can accurately read and approve it as accurate, and then provide a source for each piece of content used.

The process enables brands to maintain continuity with their heritage and helps prevent the loss of information.

The platform uses advanced Optical Character Recognition combined with the knowledge of human to digitize and structure paper-based history, including graphs and tables.
