72andSunny, Indeed Take Empathetic, 'People' Approach To Hiring

The employment landscape is changing, which is why job board Indeed is powered by both AI and human insight. AI can make hiring faster and more efficient, but hiring is ultimately a decision between people.

Indeed claims that 31 hires happen via its platform every minute. But for many people, the process is frustrating and confusing. In fact, 70% of sponsored applications on Indeed come through tools such as Smart Sourcing and Smart Screening. Traditional keyword-based search accounts for less than 30%.

That explains why, according to an April 2026 Harris Poll survey conducted for Indeed, 81% of people apply to a job and never hear back from the company/employer. Some 53% never expect to.

To offer a more empathetic approach, Indeed launched its “Jobs Need People” campaign by 72andSunny. The 6-, 15- and 30-second commercials remind job seekers that employers need skills and perspectives, not just resumes.

The media strategy spans TV, streaming, YouTube and social media, driving home the idea that jobs need people as much as people need jobs. Sports partnerships and integrated experiences are also part of the push.

More than 3.5 million employers use Indeed to find and hire new employees.

Maddie McDowell, group creative director at 72andSunny, told Agency Daily: “Jobs need people is one of those genuine, grade-A big ideas. It’s not just one film. It’s not just a tactic. It’s a potent truth that feels both inevitable and surprising at the same time. And that intersection is where the real magic happens. We’re just getting started here. There’s so much more to come.”

Based in Los Angeles, with offices in New York, Amsterdam and Sydney, 72andSunny's work includes the NFL, e.l.f. and Panera.
