OpenAI's New Revenue Officer Comes From Alphabet's Wiz

OpenAI named Dali Rajic as its new chief revenue officer -- succeeding Denise Dresser, who will leave the company to pursue other opportunities, as the focus turns to "measurable business impacts to prepare for a successful initial public offering (IPO)."

While the move marks another departure that OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, has had to work through in recent months for various reasons, it could be highly beneficial for advertisers.

Rajic's appointment to CRO signals a move toward performance and metrics frameworks, as recording any measurable impact for advertisers becomes a priority before the company goes through an IPO.

OpenAI must improve reliance on the tracking tools it offers advertisers before more increase their ad budgets with OpenAI.

Executives who have recently left include Fidji Simo, who oversaw OpenAI’s core business before stepping down last month to take a medical leave.

Kevin Weil, the startup’s former product chief, left in April, and Brad Lightcap announced plans earlier this week to leave to take on a new project.

OpenAI announced Rajic's appointment in a blog post on its web site. It is the first major appointment announced by Greg Brockman, president and co-founder, since he took on an expanded role.

“Denise has led our revenue organization through a formative period for the business and has worked tirelessly to get the team to where it is today,” Brockman wrote to in a blog post to thank her and welcome Rajic.

Rajic served as president and COO at Wiz, which Alphabet acquired on March 11, 2026 in a transaction valued at $32 billion. Wiz focuses on cloud cybersecurity.

Aside from Wiz, Rajic has worked to drive revenue at companies such as Zscaler, a leading cloud enterprise security provider, and AppDynamics, an application performance management company.

"We’re now at an inflection point: the next generation of models will change not just how work gets done but how companies are built and run," Brockman wrote. "Dali will build the revenue operating system needed to scale for this next phase."

In a note published Thursday, New Street Research analysts wrote that they believe the most important new ad product developments at OpenAI Ads have included the "roll out Carousel ads on ChatGPT and optimized cost-per-click (CPC) bidding for conversions.

The research firm notes that OpenAI has more widely rolled out a mobile measurement partner (MMP) program. Initial companies included AppsFlyer and Adjust.

Integrations allow app advertisers to measure and attribute installs and subsequent in-app events such as registrations, subscriptions or purchases generated by their ChatGPT campaigns, according to the research note. However, analysts also speculate that companies could follow, such as Nielsen, Kantar, and Comscore.

"ChatGPT is expanding beyond its initial single image ads with carousel formats that allow multiple products to appear within a single unit, including multi-advertiser placements," New Street Research wrote. "This format should increase effective inventory and auction density without a proportional increase in standalone ad units. Carousels are often preferred by Retail/eCommerce advertisers (representing the largest spending vertical in digital advertising) in order to feature multiple SKUs to a browsing shopper."

But as the note mentions, incremental supply could pressure CPMs and CPCs, but also improve product relevance, which some reports suggest the ad model lacks.

"ChatGPT’s high-intent context should support conversion rates, advertiser ROAS and, ultimately, demand," the research note explains. That matches Rajic's focus for the company. "Carousels should generate more ad impressions per conversation while limiting disruption to the user experience."
