    I think that one factor has not been fully considered.

    While 4G has a range of around 15km-20km, 5G has a range of around 500m-700m.   In order to get subscriptions to those heady levels there will need to a mass of 5G transmitters installed.   Later generations (theoretically) offer greater speed, low loss levels and further range.

    John you must be referring to micro RAN using unlicensed CBRS spectrum.

    The carriers have a wedding cake stack of spectrum up to 100MHz that connects devices over miles.....
