• Kiss To Introduce Digital Channels, App
    The Bauer Radio brand will launch the stations on 7 May across digital TV, mobile, tablet and desktop, with KissFresh to feature new beats including hip-hop, R&B, EDM, House and garage, while Kisstory will play non-stop old skool and anthems. The service is launching in response to positive audience feedback following the hour-long daily slot of the same name.
  • Press Association To Put News On Redone BT Site
    BT and the Press Association have agreed a deal which will see PA create news and editorial content for a relaunched BT website in June. The phone and web provider said the new site would feature exclusive editorial material, video and picture content covering news, entertainment, technology and lifestyle. The site will also feature "exclusively live" content from BT Sport, which also launches in the summer.
  • Ministers Delay Press Regulation Charter
    The cross-party proposals for a royal charter to underpin press regulation following the Leveson report are to be delayed, Downing Street has confirmed. The charter, published in March, called for a new system of independent press regulation and was supported by the three main political parties. It was due to be presented to the Queen for approval on May 15.
  • YouTube Video Removal Requests Up By 98%
    The UK government and police have requested removal of 124 videos and advertisements in 2012. According to a new Transparency Report by the internet giant, majority of requests involved the removal of YouTube videos that were believed to violate national security and hate speech laws, while Google rejected about half of the requests. The number of requests excludes court orders for offence and copyright infringement.
  • Publishers Enjoy Biggest E-book Sales Ever
    Total spending across printed and digital formats rose 4% to hit GBP3.3 billion in 2012, according to the Publishers Association. Printed books still account for the vast majority of sales and slid by just 1% to GBP2.9 billion. Publishers were cheered, however, as continued growth in the digital market more than made up for the shortfall. Digital sales, including the hugely important market in e-textbooks and titles for e-readers such as Amazon's Kindle range and a new wave of smaller and lighter tablets, led by Apple's iPad mini, were up 66% to GBP411 million.
  • Newcastle United Bans Telegraph After 'Tension' Report
    The Telegraph is facing a ban from attending home matches at Newcastle United Football Club after it refused to take down an article exposing "tension" within the club. North East football reporter Luke Edwards reported on Monday that a group of players were "undermining" manager Alan Pardew, putting the club in danger of a "damaging split".
  • Yahoo Bid To Buy Dailymotion Squashed
    Yahoo's bid to acquire 75% of stake in France Telecom video site Dailymotion reportedly blocked by French Industry Minister Arnaud Montebourg. According to media reports, Yahoo has withdrawn from the bid to acquire a majority stake in the France based online video site for $225 million after the French minister raised objections to the deal.
  • Pirate Bay Relocates To Caribbean Domain
    Bit Torrent download website, PirateBay has changed its top level domain (TLD) from Sweden-based .se to .sx TLD registered in an island Sint Marteen in the Caribbean. The torrent sharing site changed its TLD after Swedish authorities filed case with the District Court of Stockholm on behalf of the entertainment industries, demanding the seizure of two Pirate Bay domain names.
  • Rival To Royal Charter Includes Whistleblowers' Hotline
    The newspaper and magazine industry's Royal Charter on press regulation has been tweaked to include the provision of a whistleblowers' hotline. This was a key Leveson report recommendation left out of the document published by the Newspaper Society on 25 April. The Charter was today formally submitted to the Privy Council for consideration. It is believed that it will be considered alongside the Parliament-backed Royal Charter on press regulation which was published on 18 March.
