Ex-Yahoo Exec Cobb Joins Media.net, Focuses on Business Optimization, Product Management

Ex-Yahoo exec Josh Cobb has been named president of the Americas at digital ad tech company Media.net, where he will build partnerships and marketing capabilities.

Cobb, a 15-year Yahoo vet, will take on his Media.net post starting January 1, 2019. He left Yahoo in June.

Media.net’s contextual technology powers the performance advertising at Oath, Yahoo's parent company.

“We’ve had the great pleasure of working with Josh for nearly 10 years, dating from our original partnership with Yahoo,” stated Media.net CEO Vaibhav Arya.

Most recently, Cobb was vice president of partner management, Yahoo, responsible for publisher and supply management across the company's North American Search and Software Distribution partnerships.

Cobb has “had the opportunity to see first-hand the capabilities of Media.net’s platform and to leverage it on behalf of Yahoo. Media.net aggregates high-quality audiences that generate billions of dollars in ad sales and revenue, making Josh’s arrival significant,” Arya stated.

Cobb will run all business development and sales operations at Media.net, along with marketing and partner management, “in order to fully realize the value of Media.net's tech stack,” Arya told Publishers Daily.

He added that the role is designed to augment “Cobb's background in partner management of digital publishers and search partnerships, focused on business optimization and process management.”

Cobb said he will demonstrate to publishers "how they can drive revenue, enhance user experience and customize content in ways that don’t compromise consumer privacy."

Earlier this month, Media.net founder-CEO, Div Turakhia stepped down. Serving as the founding CTO at the time, Arya was promoted to CEO. Turakhia is serving as a special advisor to Shuzhi Technology, parent company of Media.net.

Media.net has more than 1,300 employees in North America, Europe and Asia. Media.net’s US headquarters is based in New York, and its global headquarters in Dubai.
