Mailchimp And Yelp Team Up To Allow Users To Use Reviews In Emails

Mailchimp has formed an a integration with Yelp that will allow its customers to populate their emails with Yelp content blocks.

Small businesses can populate their emails with customer reviews, photos, location information, business hours, popular dishes and other content from their Yelp profiles.

Mailchimp is launching the integration as merchants prepare for the holiday shopping season. The integration will help them connect with their audiences in the face of a challenging market, Mailchimp says.

SMBs can leverage data from reviews to drive loyalty, and turn potential customers into regular shoppers based on the strength of the business’s past performance, Mailchimp claims.

In one possible use case, a local café owner offering pie pickups for Thanksgiving can send an email to their customers, including a block with recent reviews from their Yelp page. This will highlight how pleased patrons have been with the food and service at the café, Mailchimp says.

A recent QuickBooks survey shows that up to 1 in 2 customers are less likely to buy from a brand they cannot find online.

Yelp’s research indicates that 90% of users compare businesses before deciding which one to visit or patronize.

The study was conducted in August. using Comscore demographics & people who reported using Yelp in the prior 3 months.

In addition, Yelp reports that 70% of respondents say it’s rare for them to go to a new business without first checking their reviews. And 75% claim they are reading online reviews more than they ever have.
