Skai Has 'Avengers' Moment As Klier Joins From Walmart, Sam's Club

Mor Klier, a visionary with experience at Walmart and TikTok, has joined Skai to lead the omnichannel marketing platform's commerce, retail media and generative AI businesses as executive vice president of product.

Solving the complex problem of metrics and measurement related to artificial intelligence across advertising media is one of the challenges Klier will take on this year. He likened the task to a challenge one of his favorite fictional characters had from The Avengers.

“Lead a change, lead a team and get people behind solutions,” he said.

Captain America, who leads The Avengers, is important, but the fictional character Tony Stark -- known as Iron Man, through his engineering and passion for problem solving -- needed to solve the ability to go back in time. Time travel created one problem, but Klier said the focus should be more about tackling a problem that no one else can solve and solving it in order to make an impact.

Measurement such as media-mix modeling and incrementality to optimize campaigns and better build budgets related to AI data is what Klier calls that “something else.”

“These things require a lot of data, know-how and time,” Klier said. “Helping to understand the data and AI recommendations and optimization. We want to help understand trust AI and its recommendations.”

He wants to open AI’s black box and shed light on the data -- so marketers do not have to rely on but can have the ability to double-check the work of AI agents, including its own, Celeste AI.

“We want the tool to explain what happens in the black box and why the AI suggested something,” he said. “It’s not that the measurement isn’t adjusted to optimization, but the industry is looking for a shift to better understand AI agents and what metrics it considers. All that is new, and it would help increase trust.”

Klier joins Skai from Walmart/Sam’s Club, where he served as head of product for the retail media network at Sam’s Club. He built omnichannel monetization capabilities across onsite, offsite, and in-store media that spans sponsored products, sponsored brands, display, demand side platform (DSP) and API integrations, clean room collaborations, Scan & Go ads, and more.  

Prior to Walmart Global Tech, Klier held several senior product leadership roles at TikTok, including global head of product for commerce ads, where he drove integrations with Shopify and BigCommerce. He later served as global head of product for commerce audiences and targeting, where he launched TikTok’s purchase-intent targeting solution, dramatically boosting performance for ecommerce and retail advertisers worldwide.
