Netflix Launches Ad-Free 'Playground' For Kids

Netflix is launching a new stand-alone app for kids’ games called Netflix Playground as a part of its Netflix subscription.

Netflix Playground, which is designed for kids eight and under, will not contain any advertising or in-app purchases and will not bring an additional cost.

The app is now available in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand, and will be rolling out worldwide on April 28.

In a release, John Derderian, vice president of animation series, kids & family TV of Netflix, says: "We’re building a world where kids can not only watch their favorite stories, they can step inside them and interact with their favorite characters.”

Game titles -- some of which also are tied to branded kids TV shows -- include "Playtime With Peppa Pig," "Sesame Street," "Dr. Seuss’s Horton!;" "Storybots;" "Dr. Seuss’s The Sneetches;" "Bad Dinosaurs;" "Dr. Seuss’s Red Fish, Blue Fish" and "Let’s Color."

The app can be accessed offline without a mobile or WiFi connection. Netflix Playground, according to the company, is a “perfect companion for long airplane rides or grocery trips.”

Netflix says that between 2023 and 2025, the four most-watched shows and six of the top 10 titles on its platform were kids' program titles.

Looking at all of Netflix programming, “CoComelon” is the platform’s biggest kids series. In 2025, the show totaled over 93 billion minutes viewed, making it one of the most-watched programs on all of streaming.

Netflix says it continues to offer key parental controls such as age-appropriate content tied to individual kids profiles; customizable "maturity" settings to restrict content; title-level blocking of movies or shows; profile lock PINs that can be added to adults' profiles; and kids viewing history for parents.
