• Yahoo Names Savitt as New CMO
    Yahoo on Monday announced hiring veteran marketing executive Kathy Savitt as its new chief marketing officer starting September 14. Savitt was most recently founder and CEO of social commerce site Lockerz.com, which claims 45 million unique users. Prior to starting Lockerz in 2009, Savitt was CMO of apparel retailer American Eagle Outfitters, and prior to that was a senior executive at Amazon.     HP's social campaign for the launch of the new ultra-thing Spectre ultrabook was almost too successful -- when the cool sci-fi video went viral on social media, people assumed that it was the world's thinnest.     Facebook on Thursday announced the release of a revamped app for the iPhone and iPad, promising twice the speed of the previous version. With the app “rebuilt from the ground up,” Facebook says users can expect faster performance when launching it, scrolling through the news feed and opening photos. While the app looks much the same, it was built with Apple's native iOS developer tools rather than HTML5.
