In recognition of World Water Day Friday, National Geographic will run a multimedia campaign based on an audio experience dubbed “Sounds of Future Ocean.” The initiative includes the release of a 4-track album depicting “nature sounds made only with plastic materials taken from the ocean."
You can hear it now via Spotify or see a video producing it below, but National Geographic’s release describes it this way: “Each track represents an ecosystem affected by plastic: beaches, open sea, glaciers and deep ocean. A final message at the end of every song explains which plastic material was used to create the songs and invites people to commit to the planet, reduce single-use plastic and take the pledge with National Geographic on ‘Planet or Plastic?’ campaign.”
The album will be distributed via all major music streaming platforms beginning Friday, and the campaign will feature a variety of “activations” and events on TV, radio and digital content, including all National Geographic channels in Latin America, and cross-promotion on other FNG channels.
The campaign was created in-house, and the sound production was made by Bandeira8 in Brazil.
