PowerInbox Rebrands As Jeeng As It Moves Beyond The Inbox

Email engagement platform PowerInbox has rebranded as Jeeng.

The company, which provides automated messaging and monetization services for publishers, believes this name more accurately reflects its mission.

As the firm has moved beyond the inbox with a platform that supports other engagement options, says CEO Jeff Kupietzky, “'PowerInbox' felt a little like a keepsake box that was bursting at the seams."

Jeeng is the name of the messaging platform acquired by PowerInbox last May.

The company explains that the name uses onomatopoeia to evoke the sound of a message notification chime.

Venture-backed PowerInbox acquired Jeeng, a personalized notification platform, last May -- adding push technology to its arsenal. The purchase combined PowerInbox’s message monetization platform with Jeeng’s AI notification technology, the company said at the time.

The renamed company provides publishers with 1:1 interaction with their audiences over channels they control, allowing them to generate a logged-in user without a paid subscription model.

Also, the firm converts anonymous site visitors into logged-in subscribers via contextual sign-ups, and curates content for each subscriber based on their preferences and site behavior.

One user who has seen positive results is Empire Media Group, operator of publishing brands including RadarOnline and OK! Magazine.

"Having the ability to engage directly with our audiences to better understand their interests" is key to giving customers personalized experiences they expect, says Paul Dousset, chief innovation officer and senior vice president with the Empire Media Group.
