Behind the Scenes
with Amy Madonia
Estee Lauder's Amy Madonia talks transparency, new perspectives, and weaseling her way into marketing success.
I've had the opportunity to connect
with and learn from executives of major brands at MediaPost's Insider Summits. In the process I've discovered some truly impressive women -- not only for the work they do, but their stories behind the
scenes. With Brand Insider: BTS, I get to pull back the curtain on some of the most influential women marketers as they talk about their path to success: the twists and turns, obstacles,
inspirations and the valuable lessons learned along the way.
“I wanted to be at the top of my game, whatever that game was, I just didn't know what that game was going to
be.” It turned out that game is marketing. Amy Madonia had a different career path in mind when she graduated Cornell University, but after a few zigs and zags, eventually found her
true calling was marketing - - more specifically, ecommerce. In this episode of Brand Insider: BTS, the Estee Lauder Companies’ executive director of global ecommerce tells me it's because it
satisfies both her creative and analytical sides. Amy also talks with me about her fondness for dirty clothes that smell like horses (it will make perfect sense once you hear why,) making her own
luck, and balancing her inner dialogue. You can watch the entire conversation here:
