Taboola has joined a long list of companies that allow advertisers and creators to automatically edit existing images to accelerate the process of ad creation.
Dave Struzzi, head of Taboola Communications, says the tool at this time supports static images, “but we are looking into Motion ads, gifs, in our roadmap.”
The advancements in its Generative AI AdMaker technology for advertisers can instantly make adjustments to existing creative assets, such as replacing backgrounds or generating image variations, reducing the time it takes to launch campaigns.
This builds on recent momentum for Taboola’s Generative AI technology, which has been used by more than 3,500 clients worldwide to generate content and copy for advertising creative such as titles, images and descriptions.
More than 25% of all new creative assets created by the Taboola self-service platform for advertisers leverage some aspect of Taboola’s Generative AI technology.

AdMaker’s feature enables marketers to generate diverse backgrounds, create image variations, and more. This helps advertisers eliminate the need for scheduling additional photo shoots or hire additional designers.
Struzzi said Taboola’s engineers created a proprietary framework trained on the company’s best practices, marketing objectives, advertiser categories, what’s trending on the network, and other data points.
The AI tool generates titles, images, and descriptions based on the best-performing data points running across Taboola’s network.
For example, Struzzi said, a pizza brand could take a photo of a regular cheese pizza and have the AI create variations of that pizza images. A car brand could alter the terrain a car is driving on to emphasize off-roading vs street driving. A consumer electronics brand could take an image of a camera and replace the background to have festive Christmas decorations.
