How Michaels' CMO Is Living Her Purpose

Behind the Scenes with Mandy Rassi

Michaels' Mandy Rassi talks charting her own path, making a difference, and the thrill of transformation.

I've had the opportunity to connect with and learn from executives of major brands at MediaPost's Insider Summits. In the process I've discovered some truly impressive women -- not only for the work they do, but their stories behind the scenes. With Brand Insider: BTS, I get to pull back the curtain on some of the most influential women marketers as they talk about their path to success: the twists and turns, obstacles, inspirations and the valuable lessons learned along the way.

“I literally resigned from P&G. At one point I was like I can't do this. I just want to be home with my daughter, and I had a boss who was amazing…and she was like, you do not want to do this. I know it feels that way right now, but I know you really well. Everything is a season, and I promise you this season will pass.” It did pass for Mandy Rassi, and, in that time, the now SVP, chief marketing officer at Michaels Stores found her work-life balance. In this episode of Brand Insider: BTS, Mandy admits it wasn’t easy, but credits working with a mentor to help figure it out. Never one to follow a ten year plan, she advises would-be CMOs to ask plenty of questions, own your career, and make sure to be a little bit of a Swiss army knife...Mandy explains when you watch the entire conversation here:
