New LP Ad Targets Republicans On Capitol Hill

Looks like the Lincoln Project is shifting gears in its ad strategy. A new ad out this week utilizes geofencing on Capitol Hill to target Republicans and calls out what the LP calls their “lap dog” loyalty to Donald Trump.

It’s a loyalty that may be misplaced—the anti-Trump group points to Super Tuesday results that show some Republicans are looking for someone else to back in November.

The ad features Trump as narrator. Well, Pretend Trump, let’s call him, gloating over the fact that most of the senior members of the GOP have kowtowed to him through the years as he “wrecked the economy,” “screwed up COVID,” and “ordered the attack on the Capitol that scared you into line.”

He admits to being a liar and committing fraud in his business dealings and deserving to be impeached. Twice.

“I can get away with anything,” he declares, scarily reminiscent of his real-life comment in 2016 about being able to “stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody” and not lose any voters.

“I’ve destroyed your party and you let me do it, practically begged me to,” he disdainfully says toward the end of the ad. “You’re like dogs begging for scraps.”

The idea seems to be to inspire some GOPers to grow a pair and stand up to the evil-doing Trump who likely won’t prevail in November.

Will it work? I have my doubts. They do seem to enjoy the humiliation, don’t they?
