Nielsen Upgrades Ad Spend Intel Platform

Following other industry moves into an AI-focused world, Nielsen’s longtime Ad Intel product is transforming into "Ad Intel AI."

The company says the competitive ad-spend platform will now be powered by AI technology, offering "faster, more accurate, more personalized" data for clients.

Akhil Parekh, chief product officer of Nielsen, says in a release: “By combining AI with the industry’s most accurate and comprehensive data, we turn media fragmentation into market certainty.”

Nielsen says this is the first of a series of products to create “an end-to-end ad ecosystem engineered for the AI era.”

Last year, Nielsen added connected (CTV) and streaming TV ad spend and creative data into Ad Intel across global markets to track streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV and Amazon Prime Video.

In 2020, Nielsen expanded Ad Intel into Ad Intel Digital, adding paid search, social media, and in-app display advertising.

Ad Intel was started in late 2000 when Nielsen consolidated other ad-spend tracking and media-monitoring data products, notably Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Ad Intel AI continues to survey 5.5 million brands and 4.6 million advertisers across 23 media types in more than 90 international markets.

And how does Nielsen obtain accurate ad spend figures on a brand by brand basis for each medium? Dies AI sneak into the private files of each agency or seller and ferret out the truth?
